Protect Yourself

At Marketplace Homes, your safety and peace of mind are our top priorities. Unfortunately, rental scams are on the rise, and we want to ensure you have the tools and information you need to avoid becoming a victim. Here are some important guidelines to keep in mind when searching for your next home:

Guidelines

We Do Not Advertise on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist

Be cautious of any rental listings you come across on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist that claim to be ours. Marketplace Homes does not advertise on these platforms. Always verify that you are viewing our legitimate listings through our website or trusted real estate platforms like Zillow or Realtor.com.

We Will Never Ask You to Wire Money or Pay in Cash

If someone asks you to wire money, pay in cash, Bitcoin, or send funds via apps like Venmo or Zelle, it’s a red flag. Marketplace Homes will never request payment through these methods. All rental payments and deposits are made securely through our online portal.

No Agents Will Physically Meet You in Person

Our process is designed for your convenience and security. No agents will meet you in person to show you the property or collect payments. We utilize a streamlined, self-showing system that allows you to tour the property at your own pace with a secure lockbox code.

Do Not Give Anyone Else the Lockbox Code

When you schedule a self-tour, we will provide you with a unique lockbox code to access the property. This code is meant only for you. Do not share it with anyone else, including individuals claiming to be owners or agents. If someone asks for the code, it’s a sign of a potential scam.

The Owner Will Never Ask You to Open the Lockbox

If you receive any communication from someone claiming to be the property owner asking you to open the lockbox for them, do not comply. Legitimate owners will never make this request.

Apply Only Through Marketplace Homes

Our applications are processed through Revela and can be found at MarketplaceHomes.com. To protect yourself from fraud, always apply directly through our website or by calling us at 800-331-0646. If you encounter a suspicious or fraudulent listing, please report it to us immediately.
